Michael Combs
The Music and Ministry of Michael Combs
After squandering many years living in the World and nearly destroying his life with drugs and alcohol, something wonderful happened in the life of Michael Combs... or better yet SOMEONE wonderful happened to GIVE him life...His name is Jesus!
Michael gave his life to Christ on a Monday night during a revival meeting in Jacksonville, Florida. That night was February 6th, 1989.
Since that night many things have happened! Almost immediately God put Michael into a Ministry of Music! Combs says 'never thought I would be doing what I've been doing for the last 30 years but now I can't imagine myself doing anything else!
There have been some valleys during the three decades of traveling on the road for Michael Combs. He's had four major surgeries and a lot of down time off the road due to his health. He was dying of Liver Disease when The Lord rescued him. However, God not only saved his soul and placed within him a new heart... he also gave Michael a new Liver too! Michael had a Liver Transplant on September 9th, 1991 at The University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Unfortunately the anti-rejection drugs Michael was on for his new liver destroyed his kidneys. Michael traveled part-time and continued to minister for over a year giving God all the Glory that he was able to avoid kidney dialysis while waiting on that new kidney. Some even thought he was crazy with only 8% kidney function going to Daywind Recording Studio in Nashville, TN and recording his 20th album "I Can Trust Him."
On January 9, 2017, Michael received a drastically needed kidney, and the surgery was a complete success, enabling Michael to continue the call on his life of singing and ministering the Gospel.
In 2018 Michael returned to full-time ministry after recovering from his kidney transplant. Combs says "God has blessed him in an unbelievable way." His voice and energy level is stronger than before. He received the 2018 AGM Awards Music Video of the year "Good Verses Evil." This year he received the 2019 AGM Awards Fan Favorite Artist of the year. He was also a Top 10 Nominee for Favorite Soloist with The Singing News fan awards this year of 2019.
The Lord has allowed Michael to write and record songs that some call "classics" today. Many are sung in local Churches on any given Sunday. Lots of folks tell him they hear his songs sung at numerous Gospel Music Talent Contests. (What an honor!) His songs are continuously aired on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, as well as other major radio stations around the country.
Michael feels the favor of God on him and the ministry God has blessed him with. God continues to open the doors for him and his beautiful wife, Denise, to travel for 30 years (and counting!) to minister together. He not only gets to share the songs... but his testimony as well! Combs says, "we have been blessed to see hundreds give their hearts to Jesus in our Services!" Three decades of bringing glory to God, our Father.
Combs makes his home in Ashe County, N.C. When not traveling he does enjoy golf and spending time with his family. Michael and Denise are blessed to have two children, and seven grandchildren.
